Pueblo native Millie Martinez has spent the last eight years studying the martial art of taekwondo. She’s spent countless hours training, overcome a number of serious injuries and this past Tuesday, received her first-degree black belt at a ceremony at the YMCA of Pueblo. Not to mention, she’s done it all at 74 years old.

Born in Eastleach, the 77-year-old Sensei founded the karate school Heikina Ki Kai in 1978, where it now resides in Fairford.
Meet Zhang Hexian. She started to learn kung fu when she was just four years old. Now, 90 years later, she’s better known as ” Kung Fu Granny.” Even at 94 years old, Zhang still maintains a daily training regimen of practicing her martial arts moves, sometimes even showing off her skill with a staff for fellow villagers in Liyang town in eastern Zhejiang province.
BERNARD Smith has proven age is no barrier when it comes to practising martial arts as the 75 year-old Derry man recently received his Jiu Jitsu ‘coral’ belt at the Foyle Arena. It’s a remarkable achievement and has taken almost 60 years dedication to the gentle art – a sport he has fallen in love with.
